Bard G2

Bard G2 Filter

The G2 Filter System is identical to the Recovery Filter System and is used in the same situations that the Recovery Filter System would be used, which is essentially the prevention of pulmonary embolism via permanent placement in the vena cava.

The G2 Filter System was modified as the result of continued product improvement, and the G2 Filter System delivery system was modified from the Recovery Filter System Bard G2to accommodate the modifications of the G2 Filter System.  The design, material, components, fundamental technology and intended use of the G2 IVC filter is almost identical to the Recovery IVC filter.

The Bard G2 filter is used when:

1.      Anticoagulants are contraindicated

The Bard G2 IVC filter can placed in the inferior vena cava when anticoagulant medications are not an option (“contratindicated”) to treat pulmonary thromboembolism.

2.      Failure of anticoagulant therapy

The G2 Filter can be placed in the vena cava when anticoagulants fail in treating thromboembolic disease.

3.       Emergency treatment

Bard’s G2 IVC filter can be placed in the inferior vena cava during emergency treatment for massive pulmonary embolism where the benefits of other therapies are reduced.

4.       Chronic, recurrent pulmonary embolism

A Bard G2 IVC filter can be placed in the vena cava where anticoagulant therapy is contraindicated or completely failed with chronic, recurrent pulmonary embolism.

Bard G2 Filter System Description:

The G2 filter system consists of a dilator and introducer set and a delivery device.  The G2 filter is preloaded within the delivery device, and once the introducer sheath is in position, the delivery device moves through the introducer sheath until the introducer and delivery bulbs snap together and a safety clip is removed.  The design, material, components, fundamental technolgy and intended use of the G2 IVC filter is almost idential to the Recovery IVC filter.

Like the Bard Recovery IVC filter, the G2 filter has two levels of filtration – 6 arms and 6 legs, providing a lower level of filtration and an upper level of filtration.  It is these arms and legs that are fracturing and/or migrating, causing injury.

If you have received a Bard G2 IVC filter and have had complications, it is imperative that you speak with an IVC filter attorney immediately to discuss your potential case.
